Raku Tall Black and White Vase Lamp

Wheel thrown vase using stoneware clay. The hand was hand carved before it was fired with the Raku technique. The Raku technique is achieved when glazed ceramics are taken from the kiln while they are still glowing red hot and then placed in a closed container with combustible material, such as sawdust or newspaper. This technique is used to starve the piece of oxygen and in this case resulted in a white crackle glaze and where there is no glaze the piece turned a matte black.

Base is ready to be wired.
